Double-Black Irish Linen Cue Set
First, Max wanted a
perfectly matched set of cues: Playing Cue and Jump/Break.
He ordered two laminated
shafts for each cue. After
a number of e-mails to work out the details, he settled on
an Irish
Linen Wrap for both cues (black with white specks). For the
playing cue, Max ordered 13mm Dia. shafts, and for the Jump/Break,
he
ordered 13.25mm Dia. shafts. I applied a modified pro taper
on the shafts for the six-point playing cue, and a modified
billiard
taper on the Jump/Break.
The Jump/Break Cue was made to perfectly
match the Ebony Six Floating Points cue. In fact, the cue
was matched to within two
thousandths of an inch over the entire length of the cue.
Because Jump/Break Cues usually endure more abuse than a Playing
Cue,
the points were not included. Aegis II was used in the Joint
for its strength and soft ivory color. Short Aegis Ferrules
were used to reduce flex, and genuine Hard Water Buffalo
Tips were
included. I utilized the Uni-Loc Quick Release Joint Pin
in both the Jump handle joint and the joint connecting the
butt
to the
shaft. This 14K Gold Plated Pin is reserved for only the
finest of cues. It is machined to a tolerance of .002 and is
a Class-1
Thread. It offers perfect alignment (any mistakes anywhere
and the shaft DOES NOT seat against the butt).
